How to Make Your Dream Lifestyle a Reality even if You don’t Love Your Job
How to Make Your Dream Lifestyle a Reality even if You don’t Love Your Job
Just as lifestyle determines how we live when we are not working, workstyle describes how we integrate our jobs into our lifestyles.
For decades, the traditional workstyle path has been ingrained in our culture:
Take me, for example. Ever since I stepped into the ‘workstyle’ environment, I’ve felt a deep-seated dissatisfaction.
The monotonous 9 to 5 routine failed to ignite any passion within me.
A few short years after I finished my apprenticeship, I started asking myself:
“Is this really what I wanted to do for the next forty years of my life?”
For the next fifteen years, I repeatedly asked myself that question, and the answer was always a resounding:
“No!”
But I was determined to find a way to change it.
How about you?
Have you ever found yourself pondering over this question?
What’s your dream lifestyle?
How do you want to live your life?
9 to 5 or something completely different?
Instead of working until retirement in 35 years and then living the lifestyle I dreamt of, I would create my perfect dream lifestyle right now.
In 1994, I worked as a Quality Engineer for a company that made car parts. Ann was working as a teacher in a local school.
One day, over lunch, my work colleague Jeff asked me what I really wanted to do. I replied that I would like to meander around in the sunshine in a warmer climate and enjoy a less stressful life.
Jeff was a keen sailor and always talked about owning a yacht and sailing it to warmer climates. I had never been sailing, so I did not understand the attraction.
Jeff gave me a book called “Voyaging on a Small Income” by Annie Hill. I took it home and read it over the weekend. I could not put it down.
Annie talked about her way of life: how she and her husband Peter built their yacht, invested some money, and lived off the income the money produced.
This sounded fantastic.
This could be the way to put my dream lifestyle before workstyle.
Ann was on a school trip to Italy and returned on Monday evening.
I started raving about sailing, boat building, living on a yacht in a warmer climate, and how we could do the same.
No more work, no more office or school.
It was the perfect solution.
What did she think?
She looked at me as if I had just arrived from outer space.
Neither of us had any sailing experience or boat-building experience. Where will the money come from to finance this? she asked. 💰
She did however, promise to read the book.
To cut a long story short. (You can read the complete story in our book ‘Getting Away’ available on Amazon right here.)
Over the next five years, Ann and I built a sailing yacht.
We named her Ruffles Spray.
She was launched on the 31st July 2001 in Nayland Boatyard in Milford Haven in Pembrokeshire.
In June 2002, we sailed to the Mediterranean to meander in the sun.
I have been asked that question Ann asked repeatedly:
“Where did the money come from?”
“How did you finance all those years of cruising around the Med, let alone the boat-building years?”
Well, one day, out of the blue, Ann’s best friend Wendy called her and said:
“I may have found a way for you to finance your boat build and sail around the Med. Do you want to know more?”
Of course, we did. to support your dream lifestyle
If I said to you:
“I may have found a way for you to Fill in Your Dream Lifestyle Here.” Would you like to know more?
Yes?
Then click the link below, watch my 13-minute video, and decide if what we did could be the vehicle to make the lifestyle you dream of a reality.
P.S. Just in case you’re one of those people (like me) who skip to the end of the page, let me explain:
When I first heard about this from Wendy, I was indeed sceptical; I didn’t believe that such a simple idea could hold all the solutions to my problem.
It wasn’t until I watched a similar video that I truly understood how I could remove the Workstyle and start living the Lifestyle I wanted. So, if you’re sceptical of any of the above claims at this point…
…I understand.
And I’m not asking you to let your guard down. That would be unfair, given how many half-truths and shenanigans on the internet to wade through.
Please watch the video by clicking the link below, do your due diligence and if you feel this is not for you, no hard feelings.
My advice would be: Search for another vehicle to make that dream a reality, keep looking for one that is for you. Click the link below and watch that 13-minute video.
